About

Hello, I'm Beth.

For more than a decade I've worked alongside people through some of life's most tender and tangled moments — anxiety that won't switch off, the heaviness of depression, relationships that have lost their rhythm, and the quiet ache of not quite knowing who you are anymore.

Based in Buxton, Derbyshire, I now offer online counselling UK-wide, bringing the same warmth and care of in-person work into a format that fits real life. My background also spans massage and somatic therapies, which informs how I hold the connection between body, mind and story.

My approach is integrative — I draw on person-centred, CBT-informed and relational ways of working, then tailor them to you. There's no template. Just an honest conversation, week by week, in a space that feels safe enough to be real.

My journey

From hands-on care to holding space.

My route into counselling was unusual — and, I think, the better for it. Years of working closely with people as a massage therapist taught me how much we carry in our bodies, and how rarely we get to put any of it down.

  1. 2009

Trained as a holistic massage therapist

Built my practice in Buxton, Derbyshire, working with hundreds of clients over the years on stress, chronic pain and post-injury recovery.

  2. 2014

    Began informal counselling training

Listening felt like the most important part of every session. I started training to do it properly.

  3. 2018

Completed Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling

Four years of supervised clinical placement alongside study — person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT-informed.

  4. 2021

    BACP accredited member

Reached the BACP standard for accredited practice and committed to ongoing supervision and CPD.

  5. 2026

    Launched online counselling, UK-wide

Brought the same care into a format that fits real lives — wherever in the UK you happen to be.

What you can expect from me

The values that shape every session.

Honesty over performance

I won't pretend to have answers I don't. I'll be straight with you about what I think, and curious about what you think.

Pace set by you

Therapy isn't a race to insight. We go at the speed your system can actually integrate — sometimes that's quick, sometimes slow.

Body and mind together

My somatic background means I notice what's happening in your body, not just your story. Both matter.

Outside the room, too

Therapy is one hour a week. We'll often talk about small, livable practices for the other 167.

Who I work with

Adults across the UK.

I work with adults aged 18 and over who are living in the United Kingdom. Many clients are mid-career professionals, parents, carers and people navigating big personal transitions. You don't need to be in crisis to come — many of my clients arrive simply because they want to think about their life more clearly.

When I might not be the right fit

I'm not a crisis or emergency service, and I don't currently work with under-18s, active addiction recovery, eating disorders that require specialist medical oversight, or complex trauma needing EMDR or in-patient support. If your needs sit there, I'll happily point you toward someone better placed to help.
